19th Sunday in Ordinary Time 7th August 2011
Elijah was fleeing the wrath of the king. Where was God his protector? Not to be seen in the mighty storm, earthquake or fire…but in the gentle breeze. In a noisy, bustling world it is absolutely necessary to find some place of quietness. Elijah covered his face with his cloak. We may not have to travel far to find the quiet corner. Be still and know that I am God. God is always with us but we are not always with God. Like the disciples on the road to Emmaus, something prevents us from recognizing him.
